Photocopy (Xerox) effect

A cheap photocopier flattens a photo into hard black and white, adds speckled toner grain, darkens the edges where the lid didn't close and leaves thin streaks down the page. Run it on any photo to get the DIY feel of punk zines, gig flyers and band posters — or switch the ink and paper colors for a blueprint or risograph print.

How to use it

Upload a photo with a strong subject.
Pick Photocopy, Punk zine, Blueprint or Riso pink, then set Contrast and Grain.
Turn up Edges & streaks for a worn copy, then download.

Raise Contrast until the subject's outline still reads but the midtones are gone.
Grain hides small details — lower it for faces, raise it for buildings and streets.
Pair with the Split grid tool to turn one copy into a poster-wall post.

Questions

What is the xerox effect?

It imitates a photo run through an office photocopier: very high contrast, rough toner grain, dark borders and streaks. Designers use it for zines, flyers and album art.

Can I change the colors?

Yes. Set any Ink and Paper color, or use the Blueprint and Riso pink presets for colored-paper prints.

Is it printable?

Yes. Download the PNG; the grain is part of the image, so it prints exactly as you see it.
