A free profile picture maker that does the fiddly parts
A good profile picture is a centered face, a clean background and the right size for each site. This tool does all three in your browser: it finds your face and centers the circle on it, cuts you out so you can put a solid color, a gradient or a blurred background behind you, adds an optional color ring and exports the exact size each platform asks for. None of that uses credits, and your photo never leaves your device.
If you want a different look, there are six optional AI styles: a pro headshot, anime, 3D cartoon, pixel art, clay and comic. Each one keeps your face, glasses and hair, and the result drops straight back into the crop, background and size tools. People also call this a pfp maker or a profile pic maker.
Three steps
- Add a photoA selfie or any photo where your face is clear. We center the circle on your face automatically.
- Pick a background and ringOriginal, blurred, a solid color or a gradient, with or without a ring. Optional: make an AI style for 8 credits.
- Download your sizesOne click for LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Discord, TikTok or YouTube, or all of them in a ZIP.
Profile picture sizes by platform
Upload sizes we export (square PNG; each site crops it to a circle itself):
- LinkedIn: 400 × 400
- Instagram: 320 × 320
- X (Twitter): 400 × 400
- Discord: 512 × 512 (shown as a small circle, so keep the face big)
- TikTok: 200 × 200
- YouTube: 800 × 800
- HD: 1024 × 1024 for anything else
Tips for a profile picture that works
- Fill the circle: your face should take up about half of it, because most sites show it at 40 pixels or less.
- Pick a background that contrasts with your hair and clothes. Solid colors read better than busy scenes.
- Use the same picture everywhere so people recognize you.
- Check the dark-mode preview: a thin ring helps a dark photo stand out.
Profile pictures or AI headshots?
The AI headshot generator makes a whole set of professional photos from a few selfies, with industries, outfits and backgrounds to choose from. This page is about the last step: crop, background, ring and the right size for each platform, plus a few fun AI styles. Make a headshot there, then send it here to finish it.
Questions
Is the profile picture maker free?+
Yes. Face centering, background removal, colors, gradients, rings and every size run in your browser and cost nothing, with no upload and no account. Only the optional AI styles use credits (8 each).
What size should a profile picture be?+
LinkedIn and X use 400 × 400, Instagram 320 × 320, TikTok 200 × 200, YouTube 800 × 800 and Discord at least 128 × 128 (we export 512 × 512). Download them one by one or all at once as a ZIP.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?+
Not for the free part. Finding your face and cutting out the background happen on your device; the background tool downloads once (about 7 MB) and is cached. Your photo is only uploaded if you make an AI style or use Send to.
Why does my picture look like a circle?+
Almost every site shows profile pictures as a circle, so the preview does too. The file is a square, the way the sites want it. Turn on transparent corners if you need a round PNG for somewhere that doesn’t crop.
Will the AI styles still look like me?+
Each style keeps your face shape, skin tone, age, hair and glasses. We tested a woman with braids, a man and a woman with glasses, including a full-length photo that became a head-and-shoulders avatar.
Can I use a headshot from the AI headshot generator?+
Yes. Open the headshot, choose Send to and pick Profile picture. It lands here ready to crop, change the background and download in every size.
