ASCII art draws a picture with characters: dense ones like @ and # for dark areas, light ones like dots and dashes for bright areas. This converter samples your photo in a grid, picks a character for every cell and lays them out in a monospace font. You can save it as a picture, or copy the plain text and paste it into a code comment, a README or a chat.

How to use it

Upload a photo with strong light and shadow — portraits and statues work best.
Set Detail (how many characters per line), the Characters and the Look.
Download the PNG, or tap Copy text to paste the characters anywhere.

Copied text needs a monospace font to line up — use a code block in chats and docs.
Lower Detail for text you'll paste (around 60–80 characters wide fits most screens).
Blocks gives a smoother, shaded image; Dense captures the most detail.

Can I copy the ASCII art as text?

Yes. Tap Copy text and paste it anywhere. Use a monospace font, like a code block, so the lines stay aligned.

Why does my ASCII art look stretched?

Characters are about twice as tall as they are wide, so the converter uses half as many rows as columns. If you paste it into a font with a different shape, it can look squashed — a monospace font fixes it.

What does the Color look do?

It colors each character with the color of that spot in your photo, on a dark background — closer to a mosaic than classic text art. The copied text has no color.
