Ransom note
What this tool does
This ransom note text generator builds your word the way a collage artist would: each letter is a separate scrap with its own font, size, paper color and angle, cut with slightly uneven scissors and dropped with a soft shadow. Some scraps are lined notebook paper or halftone magazine print. Shuffle re-cuts every letter, and Paper narrows the mix to newsprint, bright colors or dark pages.
How to make it
- Type your words; spaces become gaps between scraps.
- Choose the paper mix, letter case and how much the scraps tilt.
- Shuffle until you like the cut, then download a transparent PNG.
Tips
- Newsprint looks the most like a classic cut-and-paste note.
- Mixed letters switch randomly between capitals and lowercase for a messier collage.
- Lower Tilt keeps longer phrases readable.
Good for: Punk and zine posters, mystery party invitations, album covers, collage-style thumbnails, scrapbook titles.
Questions
How many fonts does the ransom note generator mix?+
Eleven: eight open-source display fonts (Anton, Bebas Neue, Playfair Display, Pacifico, Caveat, Permanent Marker, Press Start 2P, Fredoka) plus your device’s serif, monospace and heavy sans fonts. Chinese, Japanese and Korean letters rotate between serif, sans and mono system fonts.
Can I keep the same cut and change one letter?+
The cut comes from a random seed plus your text, so editing the text re-cuts it. Settle the text first, then press Shuffle to choose the look.
Is it real magazine text?+
No. Every scrap is drawn from fonts and colors in your browser, so there are no copyrighted magazine scans in the result.
