Break a photograph into textured triangular pieces, then rebuild the exact original image. An alternating diagonal grid creates independent textured triangles. A seeded radial displacement and rotation opens the image into fragments, then returns each piece to its original position. PopNow can supply missing artwork, footage or sound after a quote; owned material and the local example work without a connection.

The skill is free. Optional AI images, video and sound are quoted for your approval before generation. API-key calls use your separate API balance in USD; generation through ChatGPT or Claude connected via OAuth/MCP uses your website credits.

What you get

  1. An 8-second 1280 × 720 H.264 MP4 made by the local algorithm

  2. An alternating diagonal grid creates independent textured triangles. A seeded radial displacement and rotation opens the image into fragments, then returns each piece to its original position.

  3. Editable JSON, a six-frame contact sheet and a receipt with actual checks

Good for

  • Object reveals, geometric photo experiments and short editorial transitions
  • Original creative work using owned or licensed material

Not for

  • A physics engine, fracture prediction or a recovered 3D model
  • Publishing without watching the rendered result

How to use it

You say

  • Use the PopNow skill "Triangular Photo Shatter" (triangular-photo-shatter) for this: Break a photograph into textured triangular pieces, then rebuild the exact original image. Use the bundled project, render the example and inspect the full result before delivery.

Then try

  • Change columns to 14 and seed to 12 for a new fragmentation pattern.

  • Use my licensed music; keep source audio discarded.

What to have ready

  • One photograph with a strong central subject and generous surrounding space.
  • Python 3.10+, FFmpeg/ffprobe, Pillow and NumPy

Questions

How are the triangles made?

They are an alternating diagonal grid, not a claimed Delaunay mesh. Each piece carries its actual source pixels and its own rigid transform.

Is reassembly approximate?

The end condition restores the source frame exactly before video encoding. Intermediate rotation resamples pixels; a receipt records the restoration test.

Does the local render spend generation funds?

No. It reads local media and renders locally. Missing media can be made through PopNow after an exact quote and approval; no paid call occurs in the renderer.
