What you get
- A 1920x1080, 30 fps MP4 of 24 to 32 seconds
- One content object with two independent renderers
- A same-input check for both renders, plus copy and timing rules
- A storyboard, seam ledger and contact sheet for approval
- Optional PopNow bed, ticks and a dark glow plate
Good for
- Tools that turn pages, docs or specs into another medium
- Developer and infrastructure launches that argue by showing
- Explaining why an old format fits a new medium badly
Not for
- Products that add features rather than translate
- Comparisons where the old result is only slightly worse
- Any film that names or mocks a competitor
How to use it
In Claude or ChatGPT
Use the PopNow skill "Before-and-After Comparison Launch Video" (before-after-comparison-video) for this: Our tool turns a launch.html page into a launch.film. Use the content from ./site/index.html and make the case without naming anyone.
In a coding agent
/popnow-before-after-comparison-video Our tool turns a launch.html page into a launch.film. Use the content from ./site/index.html and make the case without naming anyone.
Then try
Show me frames from both renders side by side before you render the film.
Quote a bed that goes silent under the old render, plus the tick sounds.
What to have ready
- The two format names and four things the old one does well
- Your real content: headline, support line, features, one figure
- Your brand colours, or a DESIGN.md
- Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg

Questions
How is the comparison kept fair?
Both renders read one content object and nothing else. The check script reads the renderer code and fails if they use different fields or type their own copy, and the old render must be one you would ship.
Why does the old render just sit there?
That stillness is the argument: a page has nothing to do with time. It lands, then holds for at least 2.4 seconds with no motion, no glow and almost no music.
Can it compare us with a competitor?
No. The film argues against a format, written as a file name, never against a company. Requests to name or show a competitor are refused.
What does PopNow add?
An optional music bed that drops out under the old render, ticks and hits from the silent cut, and a dark glow plate behind the new format. Both renders stay code.
