What you get

  • A 1920x1080, 30 fps MP4 of 26 to 34 seconds
  • A HyperFrames project with one composition per scene
  • A storyboard, seam ledger and design-system stylesheet
  • A handoff note with every copy slot and the scroll speed used
  • Optional PopNow music bed and interaction sounds

Good for

  • Changelog and release-notes videos
  • Walking stakeholders through a pull request
  • Internal "what shipped this week" clips

Not for

  • Tutorials or step-by-step guides
  • Tiny fixes that do not justify thirty seconds
  • Engineer audiences who would rather read the diff

How to use it

In Claude or ChatGPT

Use the PopNow skill "Changelog Explainer Video" (changelog-video) for this: Make a release film for our offline-sync pull request in ./diffs/offline-sync.patch, summary 'Notes now sync the moment you are back online', ending on 'npm i lumen-notes@3'.

In a coding agent

/popnow-changelog-video Make a release film for our offline-sync pull request in ./diffs/offline-sync.patch, summary 'Notes now sync the moment you are back online', ending on 'npm i lumen-notes@3'.

Then try

Add a quiet music bed and click sounds, and quote the credits before generating.

The scroll is still readable in places. Speed it up without shortening the scene.

What to have ready

  • The real change: a pull request, commit range or diff
  • A one-sentence summary and four capabilities
  • A tested install or invocation command
  • Node.js 22+ and FFmpeg

Questions

Why does the diff scroll too fast to read?

That is the premise. Showing the real change at 900 to 1200 pixels per second proves the work is genuine while admitting nobody will read it, and the punch card that follows turns that admission into the film's one joke before the summary does the real explaining.

Can it show the coding tool we actually use?

Only if you own that interface or have written permission. Otherwise the skill builds a neutral terminal with plain window dots and no third-party names, and says in the handoff that it is representative.

Is there a voiceover?

No. Ten scenes in thirty seconds leave no room for narration next to on-screen copy. PopNow can add a music bed and interaction sounds, and a single read of the summary only if you ask for a separate sound-on version.

What if our change is small?

Then a sentence in the release notes is better. The checklist asks whether the change justifies thirty seconds and whether it can be summed up in one sentence before any scene is built.
