Script skill

Voice over script template, with examples

Use a simple structure for short product voice-overs, see three timed examples, then let Poppie write three versions from your own facts, each with a word count that fits when read aloud.

Opening the skill prepares a draft with Poppie. Writing scripts uses normal chat pricing; nothing is recorded or generated until you take a script to a video or audio tool.

Voice over script template, with examples

What you get

  • Three scripts with different openings: a question, a quick demo line and a plain statement.
  • A word count for each, budgeted at about 2.5 spoken words per second.
  • Hype words and claims you cannot prove removed before you see them.
  • A script ready to take to a video skill, Ads or a voice tool.

What to bring

  • Your product facts or a product card: what it is, who it is for and what it does differently.
  • The length you need: 10, 15 or 30 seconds.
  • The tone, if your brand has one: warm, playful, calm or expert.

Template and three timed examples

Example scripts written by PopNow for an imaginary insulated bottle. Your scripts use your own facts.

Template

Hook (0–2 s): a question, a demo line or a plain statement. Turn (middle): the one problem it solves, shown or said. Proof (optional): one fact the viewer can check. Close (last 2 s): what to do next. Budget: about 2.5 words per second, with half a second of silence at each end.

10 seconds · 22 words · question

Still drinking lukewarm coffee by ten? This bottle keeps it hot for twelve hours, and cold drinks icy for a full day.

15 seconds · 34 words · demo line

Ice at nine a.m. Still ice at five. The steel walls keep heat out, the lid seals with one twist, and it fits every car cup holder. One bottle, hot or cold, all day.

30 seconds · 70 words · plain statement

This is a 600 ml insulated bottle for people who are out all day. Fill it with coffee at breakfast and it is still hot after lunch. Fill it with water and ice and it stays cold until evening. The lid seals with one twist, so it can ride in a bag, and it fits a car cup holder. Pick your favourite colour and take it with you every day.

How the skill works

  1. Budget the words

About 2.5 spoken words per second, with half a second of silence at each end: roughly 22 words for 10 seconds, 34 for 15 and 70 for 30.

  2. Write three openings

A question, a quick demo line and a plain statement of what it is. Different hooks let you test which one stops the scroll.

  3. Strip the hype

Words like best, revolutionary and guaranteed, and anything that sounds like a personal result, are removed. You get three cards with word counts.

How to write a voice over script that fits the time

Write for the ear

A voice-over is heard once, at the speaker's pace. Use short sentences, everyday words and one idea per line. Read every draft out loud: if you stumble, the listener will too.

Count words, not characters

Most voices land around 150 words per minute, or 2.5 per second. A 10-second spot holds about 22 words, a 15-second spot about 34 and a 30-second spot about 70, leaving a breath at each end.

Lead with the hook

The first two seconds decide whether anyone hears the rest. Open with a question the viewer recognises, a line that describes what they are seeing, or a plain statement of what the product is.

One turn per script

Short scripts work when they make one point. Pick the single problem the product solves, show or say it, and add at most one fact the viewer can check.

Close with the next step

End on a clear, calm action: where to find it, what to choose or what to try. Leave the last half second quiet so the cut does not clip the final word.

Questions about voice over scripts

How many words is a 30-second voice over?

About 70 words at a natural pace of roughly 2.5 words per second, leaving half a second of silence at the start and the end. Faster reads fit more words but are harder to follow.

Does this skill record the voice-over?

No. It writes three scripts with word counts. Take the one you like to a video skill, Ads or an audio tool to generate or record the voice.

Can it invent claims about my product?

It should not. Scripts are built only from the facts you provide, and hype words, guarantees and personal-result claims are removed.

What is the best structure for a short script?

Hook, turn and close: open with a question, a demo line or a plain statement, make one point about the problem it solves, then end with a calm next step.

What does it cost?

Writing scripts uses normal chat pricing on your account. Recording or generating the voice later is a separate step, with its own price shown before you confirm.
