How to Generate AI Videos in Claude with PopNow

Claude has no video model, but a custom connector fixes that. Add PopNow in a minute, ask for a clip in the chat and pay per video in credits.

Claude can't render a video by itself: it writes, plans and reasons, but it has no video model built in. What it can do is use tools from outside services through custom connectors, and that is all you need. Add PopNow as a connector, sign in once, and Claude can send your request to a real video model, show you the price, and bring the finished clip back into the conversation. Setup takes about a minute, and it works on every Claude plan, Free included.

This guide walks through the connection, your first clip, what else is worth asking for, what it costs, and what to check when something doesn't work.

What you need

  • A Claude account on the web or the desktop app. According to Anthropic's help center, custom connectors are available on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans. A Free account can add one custom connector, so PopNow can be that one.
  • A PopNow account with credits. Every clip is paid from your website credits at the same price as on popnow.ai. There is no subscription and nothing extra for the connection itself.
  • The PopNow address: https://api.popnow.ai/mcp. You paste it once and never need it again.

How the connection works

A connector is a bridge built on the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for giving AI assistants new tools (modelcontextprotocol.io). When you add PopNow, Claude learns a short list of things it can now do on your behalf: create a video, create an image, write a song, record a voiceover, edit clips together, check your balance.

Nothing renders inside Claude. When you ask for a clip, Claude fills in the request (what happens in the scene, the shape, the length, the model), PopNow replies with the price, and a video model does the actual work. The result comes back as a link, and a copy is saved in your PopNow library. You sign in with your PopNow account, so Claude never sees your password, and you can disconnect at any time.

Step 1: Add PopNow as a custom connector

  1. In Claude on the web or the desktop app, open Customize / Connectors.
  2. Click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it PopNow and paste https://api.popnow.ai/mcp as the server address. Click Continue.
  4. Keep the sign-in settings Claude suggests and click Add.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner first adds the connector under Organization settings / Connectors; after that, each member finds PopNow in their own list and connects it. Menu names move around as Claude updates, so if a label looks slightly different, look for the closest match. The PopNow in Claude and ChatGPT page always shows the current steps next to the address and a copy button.

Step 2: Sign in and switch it on

Click Connect next to PopNow. A PopNow window opens: sign in and press Allow. That approval lets Claude create things with your credits and read your creations and balance, nothing more.

Connectors are switched on per conversation. In a new chat, open the + menu, choose Connectors and turn PopNow on. If Claude ever answers that it can't make videos, this switch is the first thing to check.

Step 3: Ask for your first clip

Describe it like one shot in a film: who is in it, what they do, how the camera moves and what you should hear. Start with "Use PopNow to make" so Claude knows which tool you mean. Here is a scene that suits a five-second clip:

A first video promptModel: MiniMax H3

Early morning in a small mountain town. A red cable car glides up past pine trees still wet from rain, low clouds drifting between the peaks. Inside, a man in his thirties with a gray beard and a yellow raincoat leans against the window holding a paper cup of coffee, watching the valley fall away. Camera: a slow sideways tracking shot that keeps pace with the cable car. Sound: a soft hum of the cable, birds, distant church bells.

What happens next is the same every time:

  1. Claude picks the tool and the settings. Without a model named, PopNow's create_video uses MiniMax H3 at 768p, 16:9, for 5 seconds.
  2. PopNow quotes the price. That default clip is 185 credits. Anything above the 300-credit automatic limit waits until you say yes in the chat.
  3. The model renders. Most clips take one to three minutes. If Claude says it's still working, ask it to check again.
  4. The link comes back. Open it in the chat, or find the clip later in your PopNow library.

Then keep talking. "Make it vertical for a phone." "Try the same scene with Kling 3.0." "Add five more seconds where the cable car reaches the top." Claude carries the earlier result forward, so follow-ups don't need you to start over.

More things to make in Claude

Once the connector is on, single clips are only the start. Because Claude can plan and PopNow can make every piece, longer jobs fit in one conversation:

Four rounded tiles fanned out like cards, showing a film strip, a picture, a music note and a sound wave
Video, images, music and voice all come from the same connection and the same credits.
  • A product video from nothing. Ask Claude to design a product shot with create_image, then turn it into a slow orbit clip.
  • A UGC-style review. A fictional reviewer holds the product up to a phone camera and says a line; name Seedance 2.5 for synchronized sound.
  • Three ad openings to test. Ask for three different five-second hooks in one go, quoted together.
  • An explainer with a voiceover. Claude plans the shots, PopNow makes them, records a voiceover and edits everything into one video with captions. The editing step, compose_video, costs nothing.
  • Your own photo, moving. Paste a public link to the photo and ask for gentle motion.

Each of these has a ready-to-copy prompt on the PopNow in Claude and ChatGPT page.

How much it costs

You pay per creation from your PopNow credits, at website prices. Connecting, planning in the chat and editing clips together are free.

Claude shows the price before anything runs, and the price comparison lists what other platforms charge for the same models, with the date each price was checked.

Every request is quoted first; bigger jobs wait for your yes.

Every run is also covered by PopNow Protect:

  • Failed? Full refund. If a generation errors out or never returns a file, its credits come back automatically.
  • Wrong size or length? Full refund after review. After each run, PopNow compares the clip with what you ordered: aspect ratio, length, resolution and whether sound is present. A mismatch goes to our team for a manual review within one business day, and the run is refunded once it's approved. A clip that matches your settings but isn't to your taste is still a completed run.
  • Cheaper elsewhere? 2× the difference. Found the same model and setting for less on another platform? Claim twice the difference back in credits under the price guarantee; our team checks each claim.

If something goes wrong

  • There's no Add custom connector option. On Team and Enterprise plans, only an owner can add one. On Free, you may already have used your one custom connector; remove it or replace it with PopNow.
  • Claude says it can't make videos. PopNow is switched off in this chat. Turn it on under + / Connectors and ask again.
  • You see "not enough credits". Nothing was charged. Top up on the pricing page, then repeat the request.
  • The clip is taking a while. Video models are slow, and Seedance 2.5 often needs four minutes or more. Ask Claude to check on the job; it uses the same job ID, so nothing runs twice.
  • Claude ignores your attached photo. Connectors receive links, not attachments. Paste a public link to the photo, or use an image PopNow made earlier in the same chat.
  • You want to disconnect. Remove PopNow under Customize / Connectors in Claude, or revoke the connection from your PopNow account settings.

FAQ

Can Claude make videos for free?

Claude itself doesn't make videos on any plan. Connecting PopNow is free and works on Claude's Free plan, but each clip uses PopNow credits: 185 credits for the default five-second clip.

Does it work in the Claude mobile app?

Add the connector on the web or in the desktop app first. After that, you can ask for clips from the Claude app on your phone too, and they land in the same library.

Which video models can Claude use through PopNow?

All of the video models in the PopNow catalog that the connector offers, including MiniMax H3, Kling, Seedance, Wan and Veo. Ask Claude to "list PopNow's video models" and it will show each one with its price.

Does Claude see my PopNow password?

No. You sign in on PopNow's own page and approve the connection there. Claude only receives permission to create things with your credits and to read your creations and balance.

Is this the same as the PopNow plugin for ChatGPT?

It's the same PopNow account, the same credits and the same tools. ChatGPT connects through its own plugin settings; the setup page covers both apps side by side. Developers who want to wire PopNow into their own tools can use the developer MCP instead.

Paste one address, sign in, and ask for your first clip.

Claude has no video model, but a custom connector fixes that. Add PopNow in a minute, ask for a clip in the chat and pay per video in credits.

Every generation shows its price before it runs. No subscription, and a run that fails is refunded.
