How to use it

In Claude or ChatGPT

Use the PopNow skill "Old Photo Restoration" (old-photo-restoration) for this: Here's my grandparents' 1952 wedding photo (wedding.jpg). It's scratched and creased. Restore it, make a color version and quote me first.

In a coding agent

Then try

Her dress was pale blue; use that in the color version.

Make a living photo where they blink and smile a little.

Questions

Will my grandparents still look like themselves?

That is the first rule of this skill. The repair only removes damage and evens out the tones; it is told not to retouch, idealize or add detail, and you check one photo side by side before the rest of the album runs. Requests to make someone look younger or different are refused.

Are the colors accurate?

No one can know the exact colors from a black-and-white photo, so colorization is always an estimate. It uses period-appropriate, muted tones and any colors you remember, and it is delivered next to the faithful black-and-white restoration, labeled as an estimate.

What does an album cost?

About two image edits per photo for repair and upscaling, two more for a colorized version, and about five seconds of video per living photo. Every step is quoted for the whole batch first, and one photo is done as a pilot.

How should I scan old photos for restoration?

Scan prints at 600 DPI or more, or photograph them flat in soft daylight with the frame square to the lens. Scanned old photos with a little margin give the best result. To restore old damaged photos with tears or missing corners, the agent repairs them section by section and flags anything it had to guess.
