Questions

How is this different from a general research talk deck?

It is built for being examined: titles are claims the committee can challenge, every main result has an evidence-and-limits page, and expected questions go into marked backup pages that the timing check leaves out.

Can I use my department's colors?

Yes. Use the department color as the accent and keep the white pages; crests and seals are not added as decoration.

Will it make up results or citations?

No. Numbers, figures and references come only from your thesis, and illustrative values are labeled as such on the page.

What is the rehearsal track for?

Your speaker notes are voiced page by page so you can hear the pace and transitions before the day; the same narrated file works for committee members who watch later.

What is a thesis defense, and how long should the talk be?

A thesis defense is the oral exam where you present your work and answer the committee. Most talks run 20 to 45 minutes and a dissertation defense often adds an hour of questions, so the skill sizes the deck to your slot and keeps backup pages for likely questions.
