Seedance 2.0 Mini vs Fast: One Prompt, Two Light Tiers
Mini and Fast share the same settings (4 to 15 seconds, 480p or 720p, sound in the same pass), and on our test prompt both returned a usable 720p clip with rain, reflections and an ambient sound track. Mini delivered the brighter, wider, evenly lit side tracking shot and costs less. Fast went darker and moodier and filmed her more from behind, but it got the baker's wave on screen. Despite the name, Fast wasn't faster for us: both came back in about two minutes. Start with Mini for drafts and volume, and switch to Fast when Mini misses an action you asked for. Over three prompts each tier took one round and the street scene was a draw, so the cheaper tier is the sensible default.
Seedance 2.0 Mini and Seedance 2.0 Fast are the two lighter tiers of ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 video model. Every prompt ran once on each tier at 720p, 16:9 with sound on: five seconds for the street and the puppy, six for the rooftop party. Render times are wall-clock with the queue. For a third reference point, full Seedance 2.0 ran the street prompt on the same settings.
Round 1 · Rainy street, two people, sound
A woman in her sixties with silver curly hair and a yellow raincoat cycles slowly along a wet cobblestone canal street at dusk. She rings her bicycle bell and laughs as a bearded man in a green apron waves from a bakery doorway. Smooth tracking shot from the side, warm shop lights reflecting on the wet stones, light drizzle, ambient sound of rain, the bell and distant chatter.
Mini: a clean side tracking shot past a glowing bakery window, with the baker holding a tray in the doorway. Fast: a darker, near-night grade, the camera drifting behind her, and the baker clearly raising a hand to wave. Neither clip showed the canal from the prompt.
Round 2 · Rooftop party with a spoken toast
A summer rooftop party in Brooklyn at blue hour, string lights and the Manhattan skyline behind. A mixed group of friends in their late twenties and thirties dance and laugh: a woman with long braids spins under a man's arm, two men clink beer bottles, someone throws a handful of confetti. One continuous handheld shot weaving through the dancers, ending as the whole group raises their drinks and shouts together, "To summer!" Sound: upbeat funk music, chatter, laughter, bottles clinking.
Mini covered every beat in clear blue-hour light: the braided dancer twirls under her partner's arm, bottles meet, confetti drifts down and the group lifts a toast, with faces bright and readable throughout. Fast had the same beats with a moodier grade and more handheld energy, but it opens on a blurred close-up of the back of her head before it settles.
Round 3 · Puppy chasing a splitting jelly cube
A golden retriever puppy chases a giant wobbling orange jelly cube across a sunlit park lawn. The cube bounces, squashes on landing and splits into three smaller glossy cubes that scatter in different directions; the puppy skids to a stop, tilts its head and pounces on the nearest one. Low tracking camera at grass height, shallow depth of field, warm afternoon light. Sound: excited barks, squishy bounces, birdsong.
Fast showed the squash we asked for, the cube flattening as it lands before it breaks apart, and finished on the pounce. Mini's cube sailed upward like a balloon instead of bouncing, though its puppy gives a sweet head tilt before jumping. Both ended with about five pieces instead of three.

- Look
- Mini was brighter and evenly lit, with slightly smooth, polished surfaces. Fast had more contrast and a moodier evening grade, closer to a film night scene, but her face sat in shadow for most of the clip.
- Hitting the prompt
- Our prompt had six beats: cycling, the bell, a laugh, a waving baker, a side tracking shot and drizzle. Mini nailed the tracking shot and the setting but left the baker standing still. Fast got the wave and the drizzle, but you mostly see her back, so the laugh is hard to read.
- Speed in our run
- Both 5-second clips arrived in about two minutes, queue included (117 seconds for Mini, 121 for Fast). Fast's edge depends on load, so don't count on it for a single clip.
- Sound
- Both returned a generated ambient track with the picture. Sound is on by default on both and can be switched off if you'll add your own music.
- Faces and people
- Mini kept her face toward the camera with a readable smile and gave the baker a clear silhouette in the doorway. Fast's camera stayed behind her shoulder, so expressions were mostly lost, though her silver curls and raincoat stayed consistent through the clip.
- One small extra on Mini
- Mini has a web search switch that lets it look up current details before it renders, useful for real places or this season's products. Fast doesn't. Both take up to nine reference images, three clips and three audio tracks, and both can extend a clip.
- Moving between them
- The settings are identical, so a prompt moves from one to the other without changes. That makes a simple routine: sweep ideas on Mini, rerun the keeper on Fast or full Seedance 2.0.
- And normal Seedance 2.0?
- On the same prompt, full Seedance 2.0 gave the closest, most detailed shot, with a readable laugh and the canal at the end, but it took about three minutes and costs more per second. See the Fast vs Seedance 2.0 page for that clip.

Mini, for most creators: it's the cheaper tier, both make 9:16 with sound, and a feed shown on a phone rarely needs more than 720p. Use Fast for a second try when a take on Mini misses an action, and full Seedance 2.0 when a clip has to hold up on a big screen.
Can I keep a cast consistent across clips?
Yes, on both. Reference mode takes up to nine photos plus three clips and three audio tracks; three clear angles of the same person usually work better than nine unrelated pictures.
