OpenHands skills

Install PopNow skills in OpenHands. Download a skill, unzip it into the skills folder, and call it by name in your next chat.

  1. 1Copy the install prompt

Paste it into OpenHands. It downloads the skill with your API key and unzips it into the right folder.

  2. 2Ask for the result

Call the skill and say what you need in plain words: the topic, the audience, the length.

  3. 3Review and refine

Open the file it made, ask for changes in the chat, and ship when it looks right.

Use OpenHands to build a reader-focused research artifact

Decide whether readers browse or follow a talk

An OpenHands creative request can turn a research source into a website or presentation with an explicit reading path. Research Paper Website is a catalog direction for a browsable account. Academic Talk Slides is a related option for a speaker-led explanation, while Research Graphical Abstract offers a compact visual summary. These are complementary formats with different constraints. A reader-controlled website should make supporting material findable; a talk needs a paced argument; an abstract must select only the central idea. Pick the format after defining the audience and the questions the artifact should answer.

Use the OpenHands package locations shown here

The agent record lists ~/.openhands/skills for personal use and .openhands/skills for a repository. Retain the complete popnow-prefixed directory with SKILL.md and its supporting resources. Use its plain skill name in the request, and consult the official documentation linked above for host-specific details. Devin's recorded folders use .devin instead, so a package prepared for that assistant needs its placement checked when used here. This guide relies on the installation locations recorded by PopNow and does not assume an additional host-specific import command or automatic conversion step.

Keep interpretation close to its source

For an initial OpenHands research artifact, supply the source paper, approved figures, definitions, limitations and the intended reader. Ask for an outline that makes the main claim and its evidence distinguishable. Review captions and citations before final styling, and check that explanatory graphics do not imply stronger conclusions than the source supports. If the result is difficult to navigate, reduce competing sections and clarify the reading path. If generation stops, inspect package requirements and source-file access separately. Keep editable material available so corrections can be made after review, rather than treating the first polished output as a final statement of the research.

Frequently asked questions

Where should OpenHands skills be installed?

The listed project location is .openhands/skills and the personal location is ~/.openhands/skills. Keep the complete package intact and identify it by its plain skill name. Consult the linked host documentation for details specific to your setup rather than assuming another assistant's installation command applies.

Which research format should I choose first?

Use the audience's reading situation to decide. Inspect Research Paper Website for a browsable artifact and Academic Talk Slides for a presentation delivered by a speaker. A graphical abstract is a more compact alternative. Compare required inputs and examples before committing to one format.

What if I cannot reuse the paper's figures?

State that restriction in the brief and supply authorized material or approved alternatives. Ask OpenHands to identify where a new illustration would help, then review its meaning against the source. A replacement visual should not invent findings or conceal limitations merely to fill an empty area.

How do I check a research page for overstated claims?

Trace each prominent statement and caption to the supplied source, and distinguish observed results from interpretation. Keep limitations accessible to the reader. A skill can improve organization and presentation, but the review must still establish whether the artifact accurately represents the underlying research.
