Goose skills
Install PopNow skills in Goose. Download a skill, unzip it into the skills folder, and call it by name in your next chat.
- Where skills go
For every project
~/.config/goose/skillsFor this project only
.goose/skills - How to call a skill
Mention the skill by name, or just describe the job and let Goose pick it.
popnow-<skill> - Connect PopNow
Skills are free. To generate images, video or sound, set your PopNow API key in POPNOW_API_KEY. Calls using this key draw from your separate API balance in USD. Each paid generation is quoted first and waits for your approval.
POPNOW_API_KEY
- 1Copy the install prompt
Paste it into Goose. It downloads the skill with your API key and unzips it into the right folder.
- 2Ask for the result
Call the skill and say what you need in plain words: the topic, the audience, the length.
- 3Review and refine
Open the file it made, ask for changes in the chat, and ship when it looks right.

Turn source notes into a Goose workshop package
Pick the artifact the facilitator needs
A Goose creative request can focus on preparing a workshop from material you already own. Workshop Facilitator Deck is a relevant presentation option, Training Workshop Deck offers a related teaching format, and Sketchnote Generator provides an image-oriented way to summarize ideas visually. Inspect their samples before choosing the starting point. A facilitator deck should support activities and discussion; a visual summary should help participants recall concepts afterward. They can complement one another, but asking for both immediately can distract from the first question: what should participants understand or be able to do when the session ends?
Use Goose's configuration folder precisely
The personal directory listed by PopNow is ~/.config/goose/skills, and the project directory is .goose/skills. Keep each complete package in its own popnow-prefixed folder with SKILL.md and supporting resources. Use the plain skill name in your request, followed by the workshop goal. OpenCode also uses a personal path under ~/.config, but its full directory and project scope are different. If a package was previously installed for OpenCode, check the Goose destination explicitly rather than assuming that a shared configuration parent makes it available to both assistants.
Design the session before decorating the slides
For the first Goose workshop task, supply the audience's starting knowledge, the intended outcome, the source notes and the activities you want people to try. Ask for a session outline that distinguishes explanation, practice and discussion. Review that outline before choosing visual treatments. A sketchnote should summarize approved concepts rather than introduce unreviewed claims. If the deck is dense, reduce the content per teaching moment and move supporting detail into notes. If export fails, inspect the chosen package's requirements separately from the lesson design. The finished material should make facilitation easier, with editable sources available for a later session or a different audience.
Three ways to install
- Ask your agent
Copy a skill's install prompt into your agent. It reads the install guide, downloads the package with your key and unzips it into the right folder.
https://popnow.ai/api/skills/install.md - Use the CLI
popnow skills finds and installs skills from your terminal.
npm install -g @popnow/cli && popnow skills - Over MCP
With the developer MCP connected, ask for a style: find_skills suggests packages and install_skill hands over the playbook and the install commands.
find_skills → install_skill - Generation uses your API key
Skills are free. The images, video, music and voice they make through PopNow are charged in USD to the API balance behind POPNOW_API_KEY, after a quote you approve.
POPNOW_API_KEY
Install guides by agent
Same skills everywhere; only the folder changes.
Frequently asked questions
How do I call a workshop skill in Goose?
Use the plain installed skill name, such as popnow-workshop-facilitator-deck, followed by the learning goal and audience. Include the source notes and practical activities you want to use. Ask Goose to confirm the workflow instructions before it turns the material into a session outline.
Where should a Goose project skill live?
The project location recorded here is .goose/skills. Use ~/.config/goose/skills for a personal collection. Preserve the complete directory structure so the instruction file can find its resources. Check the full path if a package installed for another configuration-based agent is not discovered.
When is a sketchnote useful alongside a workshop deck?
Sketchnote Generator is worth inspecting for a compact visual summary of concepts participants have already discussed. It serves a different role from the teaching sequence. Review its labels and relationships against the approved workshop material so the summary reinforces the lesson rather than introducing new ambiguity.
What if the presentation feels too dense to facilitate?
Revisit the session outline and distinguish what participants need to see from what a facilitator needs in notes. Reduce competing ideas on each teaching moment and add a purposeful activity where appropriate. Styling alone will not resolve a session that tries to teach too much at once.
