What does the video music remover do?
It takes the background music out of a video and keeps everything people say. The picture, the length and the timing stay exactly the same, so the clip still lines up in your edit.
Use it when a track can't be used on another platform, when you want to put your own music under the dialogue, or when the music drowns out the voice.
How to remove music from a video
- Upload a videoMP4, MOV or WebM, up to 10 minutes.
- Remove the musicShort clips are ready in about ten seconds.
- Compare and downloadSwitch between With music and Music removed, then download the new video.
What people use it for
- Reposting clips. Take a song out of a video before posting it somewhere it isn't allowed.
- New soundtracks. Clear the old music and add your own under the dialogue.
- Clearer dialogue. Interviews, reviews and vlogs where the music is louder than the voice.
- Dubbing and subtitles. A dialogue-only track is easier to transcribe, translate and caption.
Tips
- Clips where the voice is clear over the music give the cleanest result.
- Sound effects that are part of the scene can be kept or reduced along with the music; listen before you publish.
- Need a new soundtrack? Send the result to Add music to video.
- For songs, Vocal remover gives you the vocals and the instrumental as two separate files.
How the music removal works
Video Music Remover listens to the whole sound track, separates speech from music and rebuilds the audio with the speech only. The video frames are copied as they are, so nothing in the picture changes and the new file has the same length. You pay for the length of the video only.
How many credits does it take?
Credits follow the length of the video, counted in whole seconds with a 3-second minimum: about 72 credits for a 30-second clip, 144 for a minute and 1440 for ten minutes. The button shows the exact price before you start, and a run that fails is refunded.
Questions
Can I remove background music from a video for free?+
Viewing the examples is free. Your own video takes about 72 credits for 30 seconds, with no subscription, and failed runs are refunded.
Will the voices still sound natural?+
Yes. Dialogue is kept at its original level and tone; only the music under it is removed. Very loud music over very quiet speech can leave a little trace.
Does it change the video?+
No. The picture, resolution, length and timing stay the same. Only the sound track is replaced.
How long can the video be?+
Up to 10 minutes. Split longer videos into parts first.
Can I keep the music and remove the voice instead?+
Use Vocal remover: it splits a recording into vocals and instrumental and gives you both files.
What about background noise like wind or traffic?+
This tool is for music. For noise, hum and hiss under a voice, use Remove background noise, which also works on videos.
