GPT Image 2 vs Nano Banana Pro: One Poster, One Photo, Both Models

Both nailed the poster text, and both kept our exact capitalisation. Nano Banana Pro laid the poster out like a designer, with a clean grid and offset inks, and its garage photo had the most convincing film-camera feel of any model we tried on that prompt. GPT Image 2 gave a warmer, more polished photo and one bold, centred illustration. In our run Nano Banana Pro returned each image in about 25 seconds, GPT Image 2 in just over a minute. GPT Image 2 costs less per image and can return ten at once; Nano Banana Pro is the pick for dense layouts, diagrams and photoreal scenes that shouldn't look staged.

GPT Image 2 is OpenAI's image model for correctly spelled text and masked edits, with up to ten images per run. Nano Banana Pro is Google's Gemini 3 Pro Image model, which reasons about the request before it draws. That helps with posters carrying several lines of type, labelled diagrams and packaging. Both create and edit on PopNow, from 1K to 4K.

GPT Image 2 vs Nano Banana Pro on the same prompts

Each prompt ran once per model at 1K, GPT Image 2 at medium quality. Nano Banana Pro's JELLY FEST poster comes from our earlier image test with the same prompt and 3:4 frame. Times are wall-clock, queue included, so treat them as single readings rather than a benchmark.

Round 1 · Poster with exact text

A risograph-style poster for a neighborhood farmers market. Large headline text: "SATURDAY MARKET". Below it, smaller text: "Fresh bread · Local honey · 8am–1pm". Illustrated pears, sunflowers and a wicker basket in mustard, teal and coral ink on cream paper, slight print grain, clean layout with generous margins.

Nano Banana Pro: Poster with exact text
Nano Banana Pro 1K · 2:3Our pickPrix: 17 créditsEnviron 25 sEssayer avec Nano Banana Pro

Both spelled every word and kept “Fresh bread · Local honey · 8am–1pm” in sentence case. Nano Banana Pro arranged pears, sunflowers and a basket on a loose grid with slightly misregistered inks, the way real risograph prints look, and added a halved pear and a few vegetables. GPT Image 2 built one centred illustration with a checked cloth.

Round 2 · Candid photo of two people

Candid 35mm photo in a sunny, cluttered home garage: a man in his seventies with deep brown skin and a short gray beard tunes a vintage blue road bike while his adult daughter in denim overalls hands him a wrench, both laughing. Dust floating in the window light, shallow depth of field, natural skin texture, warm afternoon tones.

Nano Banana Pro's frame reads most like a real 35mm snapshot: soft window light, fine grain, an ordinary garage. GPT Image 2 is warmer and more flattering, with stronger background blur. Pro gave the father a second wrench resting on his knee; faces and hands looked natural on both.

Round 3 · Typography poster with exact text

Photograph of a bold typographic event poster pasted on a sunlit concrete wall: giant chunky rounded letters "JELLY FEST" in tangerine and cobalt, a subtitle "SUMMER PARADE — 08.08" in a clean grotesk typeface, layered with cut-out stickers of wobbling jelly cubes, iridescent soap bubbles and cherries, halftone riso-print texture, lemon-yellow and lilac color blocks; harsh afternoon sun casts a diagonal shadow across the poster. Editorial graphic design, crisp legible text, no logos, no brand names.

Nano Banana Pro printed the headline in capitals exactly as written, raked a hard diagonal shadow across a weathered, peeling sheet and kept the riso grain. GPT Image 2 matched the colours and the spelling, and its jellies are the more literal cubes, but it set some title letters in lower case and the harsh afternoon shadow we asked for only clips one corner.

Ce que nous avons remarqué

Text and layout
A tie on spelling and capitalisation. Nano Banana Pro plans the layout before it draws, and it showed: more breathing room around the type and elements that sit on a grid instead of one big cluster.
Realism
For the candid scene, Pro's light and textures looked less staged. GPT Image 2 leans toward a commercial, retouched look, which some briefs want and others don't.
Speed in our run
Nano Banana Pro returned both images in about 25 seconds each; GPT Image 2 took 65 to 70 seconds. Pro is often described as the slower model because it reasons first, and load changes from hour to hour, so treat this as one honest data point.
Price and volume
GPT Image 2 costs less per image at the same size and can return up to ten images in one run, which makes it the economical way to explore many directions. Nano Banana Pro costs more per image but tends to need fewer retries on complicated layouts.
Editing
GPT Image 2 supports a mask for pinpoint fixes on up to ten photos. Nano Banana Pro takes up to 14 references and is good at relighting a finished photo or adding type over it without changing the people.

Conseils de prompt

  1. Describe the layout in sentences: where the headline sits, what goes below it and how much margin to leave.
  2. Quote every line of text exactly as it should appear, including capitals and punctuation.
  3. On GPT Image 2, draft at low quality to judge the composition, then finish at medium or high where small type sharpens.
  4. On Nano Banana Pro, go straight to 2K: on this model 1K and 2K cost the same.

Is Nano Banana Pro better than GPT Image 2 for posters?

For spelling they tied in our test. Nano Banana Pro produced the more designed layout, with a grid and breathing room around the type, so it's our pick when a poster has several blocks of text. GPT Image 2 is the cheaper option for simpler, bolder layouts.

Which looks more like a real photo?

Nano Banana Pro, in our garage scene: natural window light, grain and an ordinary background. GPT Image 2 looked more like a retouched advert, which can be exactly what a product or lifestyle brief needs.

Is Nano Banana Pro slow?

Not in our run: it returned each 1K image in about 25 seconds, faster than GPT Image 2. Because it reasons before drawing, it can take longer on busy hours or complicated prompts.

Can I run the same prompt on both at once?

Yes. Compare Models on PopNow sends one prompt to up to four models side by side, so you can check both before choosing which one to keep using.

Which should I use for a menu, price list or infographic?

Nano Banana Pro. Those jobs live or die on hierarchy and alignment, and Pro arranges several blocks of text on a grid before it draws. Use GPT Image 2 when there's one headline and a strong picture, or when you want ten quick variations to choose from.
