Introduction

Wan 3.0 Text to video generates a 2 to 30 second clip with sound from nothing but a written prompt. prompt is the only required field; duration_seconds, resolution (480p, 720p or 1080p, default 720p), aspect_ratio (default 16:9), generate_audio, enable_prompt_expansion and seed are optional controls you can leave at their defaults. Because no image anchors the shot, the model invents every face, garment and set from the words. That gives the widest creative range of the Wan 3.0 modes and the least control over a specific person.

Key features

Sound written into the same request

generate_audio is on by default, so the returned file already carries sound locked to the picture. The armoury example uses this deliberately: its prompt ends with an "Audio:" line — a leather glove slapping onto wood, lacing creaking, a torch spitting — and those sounds come back with the actions that cause them. Set the field to false only when the shot will be scored separately.

Any whole length from 2 to 30 seconds

duration_seconds accepts every whole number from 2 to 30, with 5 as the default, or -1 for smart duration, where the model picks the length from the prompt. The dune example runs the default 5 seconds at 720p in 16:9 — enough for one aerial glide from the storm wall down to her face. Longer clips drift more in identity and geometry, so settle the look at 5 seconds before extending.

Request parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
seedNoReuse the same number to get a repeatable result. ≥ 0 · ≤ 2147483647
promptYesDescribe the subject, action, camera, light, pacing, and boundaries for the shot.
resolutionNoOutput size. Bigger sizes look sharper and cost more. 480p · 720p · 1080p · Default: 720p
aspect_ratioNoThe shape of the frame: wide, square or tall. 16:9 · 9:16 · 1:1 · 4:3 · 3:4 · adaptive · Default: 16:9
generate_audioNoAdds sound made to match the picture: voices, ambience and effects. Default: true
enable_thinkingNoLet the model reason about the brief and the reference material before generating. Helps with complex references; slower. Default: false
duration_secondsNoHow long the clip runs. You pay per second. -1–30 · Default: 5
enable_prompt_expansionNoLets the model add detail to a short prompt. Default: false

Pricing

Prices are in credits, the same credits you use on the website (1 credit = $0.01). The hold is taken when the task is accepted and settled to the actual charge when it finishes; failed tasks are refunded.

OptionCredits per second≈ USD
resolution 480p6.75$0.068
resolution 720p13.5$0.14
resolution 1080p27$0.27

Each task is rounded up to whole credits, so one run at the lowest tier costs 34 credits for a 5-second clip ($0.34).

For an exact number before you run, send the same body to POST /jobs/quote.

Use cases

Atmospheric set pieces without a source image

When no photograph of the location exists, the prompt has to build it. The dune example describes a sunset dune crest, a colossal sandstorm rolling in, an emerald silk gown streaming in the wind and a camera that glides down from an aerial view to her face, all from the sentence alone. Requests like this suit mood films and pitch reels where the environment matters more than a specific face.

First-person framing

The point-of-view example is written as one continuous take: the camera is the viewer's own eyes, a single tungsten lamp is the only light, and the brief states that the wardrobe stays exactly as written throughout. Stating what stays unchanged is as useful as stating what moves, because it stops the model from resolving an ambiguous prompt in its own direction.

Prompt guide & pro tips

Order the prompt: subject, action, camera, light, sound

Write one subject, one action, one camera move, then a note each for light and sound. Long adjective lists move the result less than one clear action does.

Specify the framing when a detail carries the scene

The armoury prompt names its framing — medium close-up from the hips up, low three-quarter angle, 85mm — because a wide shot would lose the glove, the lacing and the torchlight on her shoulders. When a detail matters, say how large it should be in the frame instead of hoping the model picks a close shot.

Keep prompt expansion off for precise briefs

enable_prompt_expansion defaults to false here. Switching it on rewrites the prompt before generation, which helps a two-line idea and works against a detailed brief like the ones above. For controlled reruns, hold seed and change one field at a time; a fixed seed makes comparisons fair but does not guarantee identical frames. Text alone cannot keep one face across runs, so use reference-to-video for recurring characters.

API quick start

Call the Wan 3.0 API in three steps

  1. Create an API key. Sign in to PopNow and create a key in the API console. Keys start with sk-popnow- and use the same credits as the website.
  2. Send the request. POST /jobs/createTask with model alibaba/wan-3.0/text-to-video and an input object that follows the parameter table. The response returns a task ID straight away.
  3. Get the result. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo with the task ID, or pass a callBackUrl and we post the result to it. Download the output links when the task succeeds.
# 1. Create the task. Keep the Idempotency-Key if you retry after a network error.
export IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
  -d '{
  "model": "alibaba/wan-3.0/text-to-video",
  "input": {
    "prompt": "A slow aerial shot drifting over a misty pine forest at sunrise",
    "aspect_ratio": "16:9",
    "resolution": "720p",
    "duration_seconds": 5
  }
}'

# 2. Copy data.taskId from the response, then poll until state is succeeded, failed, canceled or expired.
TASK_ID="TASK_ID_FROM_RESPONSE"
curl "https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=$TASK_ID" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY"

Replace the prompt and any links with your own. The API tab has the response, polling and callback reference.

Wan 3.0 API questions

How much does the Wan 3.0 API cost?

Wan 3.0 starts at 34 credits ($0.34) for a 5-second clip with Create Video, its cheapest task. Prices by option: 480p 6.75 credits per second, 720p 13.5 credits per second, 1080p 27 credits per second. Credits are the same as on the website (1 credit = $0.01), new accounts get 30 free credits, and failed tasks are refunded.

What is the model name for Wan 3.0 in the API?

Put alibaba/wan-3.0/text-to-video for Create Video; alibaba/wan-3.0/image-to-video for Image to Video; alibaba/wan-3.0/reference-to-video for Reference to Video; alibaba/wan-3.0/video-extend for Extend Video in the model field of POST /jobs/createTask.

How long can a Wan 3.0 clip be?

Two to thirty seconds, set with duration_seconds as a whole number. The default is five. Longer clips drift more in identity and geometry, so settle the shot at five seconds first.

Does Wan 3.0 generate audio?

Yes, and it is on by default. Picture and sound come back in one file, already aligned. Set generate_audio to false when you plan to add your own score.

What resolutions does Wan 3.0 support?

480p, 720p and 1080p, defaulting to 720p. If you need 2K or 4K, use Wan 3.0 Pro instead — it publishes a different resolution ladder.

Can I set the first and last frame?

On image-to-video, yes. image_url is the opening frame and last_image_url is optional; supplying both pins where the move starts and where it lands, which is what keeps product geometry readable.

How many reference images does reference-to-video take?

Up to ten images, plus up to five reference videos and five reference audio files. Reference videos are limited to fifteen seconds in total, and so are reference audio files; at least one of the three arrays, a reference file or a web link has to be present, while the prompt is optional.

What are the limits of the Wan 3.0 API?

Clip length: 2–30 s; Resolutions: 480p · 720p · 1080p; Aspect ratios: 16:9 · 9:16 · 1:1 · 4:3 · 3:4 · adaptive. Requests outside these limits are rejected before anything is charged.

Can I try Wan 3.0 without writing code?

Yes. The Playground runs Wan 3.0 on your PopNow credits, needs no API key, and shows the matching code for every run.

All Wan models

Wan 3.0 Pro renders the same kinds of shots at 1080p, 2K or 4K for a higher price. Plain Wan 3.0 is the better value for drafts and social clips.
