About Wan 2.1 LoRA
The Wan 2.1 LoRA API exposes more sampler control than most endpoints: steps, guidance_scale and flow_shift alongside a loras array, on text, image and video to video. Billing is per clip by resolution, which keeps restyle jobs predictable. It suits creator tools that want LoRA-based restyling of user footage.
Call it with the model name alibaba/wan-2.1-lora/text-to-video on POST /jobs/createTask, from 36 credits per run ($0.36). New accounts get 30 free credits to try it in the Playground first.
Introduction
Wan 2.1 LoRA Text to video generates a silent clip from a prompt with up to three of your LoRA files loaded on Alibaba's open 14B video model.

Key features
A deep community LoRA library
Load up to three by direct link, each with its own strength from 0 to 4.
Wan 2.2 LoRAs carry over
In our test a single-file Wan 2.2 style LoRA turned the clip into a sepia old-film look on this model, so a good part of the newer Wan 2.2 library is usable here as well. A LoRA for an unrelated model, such as an image model, fails the request instead.
Tuning left open
Steps, guidance, flow shift and a negative prompt are all yours to set, which matters for LoRAs whose authors publish recommended settings. The defaults (30 steps, guidance 5) gave clean frames in our runs.
Request parameters
| Parameter | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
aspect_ratio | No | The shape of the frame: wide, square or tall. 16:9 · 9:16 · Default: 16:9 |
duration_seconds | No | How long the clip runs. You pay per second. 5 · 10 · Default: 5 |
flow_shift | No | Flow-matching timestep shift, from 1 to 10. Leave it out for the default (3 at 480p, 5 at 720p). ≥ 1 · ≤ 10 |
guidance_scale | No | How strictly the model follows the prompt. ≥ 0 · ≤ 20 · Default: 5 |
loras | No | Load your own LoRA files to lock in a style or character. Default: [] |
negative_prompt | No | Things you don't want to see. |
prompt | Yes | Describe the scene, the action and the camera. If a LoRA has trigger words, put them first. |
resolution | No | Output size. Bigger sizes look sharper and cost more. 480p · 720p · Default: 480p |
seed | No | Reuse the same number to get a repeatable result. ≥ 0 · ≤ 2147483647 |
steps | No | More steps add detail but take longer. ≥ 1 · ≤ 40 · Default: 30 |
Pricing
Prices are in credits, the same credits you use on the website (1 credit = $0.01). The hold is taken when the task is accepted and settled to the actual charge when it finishes; failed tasks are refunded.
| Option | Credits per run | ≈ USD |
|---|---|---|
| duration_seconds 5 · resolution 480p | 36 | $0.36 |
| duration_seconds 10 · resolution 480p | 54 | $0.54 |
| duration_seconds 5 · resolution 720p | 54 | $0.54 |
| duration_seconds 10 · resolution 720p | 81 | $0.81 |
For an exact number before you run, send the same body to POST /jobs/quote.
Use cases
Character series
Train or download a character LoRA once and load it on every request: the same face and outfit carry across scenes, which a prompt alone cannot guarantee from clip to clip.
Styled shorts
A style LoRA gives every clip in a set the same look, from cel animation to vintage film, so a series reads as one piece even when the prompts change.
Prompt guide & pro tips
Trigger words first
Most Wan LoRAs were trained with a trigger phrase, listed on the LoRA page. Put it at the very start of the prompt, then describe the subject, the action and the camera in plain sentences.
Start at scale 1
In our tests 0.5 already moved the result and 1 moved it further. Raise the scale only if the LoRA still looks faint, and lower it if the set and the characters change more than you want.
Use direct, public links
Use a public link that downloads the .safetensors file itself, such as a Hugging Face "resolve/main" link.
API quick start
Call the Wan 2.1 LoRA API in three steps
- Create an API key. Sign in to PopNow and create a key in the API console. Keys start with sk-popnow- and use the same credits as the website.
- Send the request. POST /jobs/createTask with model alibaba/wan-2.1-lora/text-to-video and an input object that follows the parameter table. The response returns a task ID straight away.
- Get the result. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo with the task ID, or pass a callBackUrl and we post the result to it. Download the output links when the task succeeds.
# 1. Create the task. Keep the Idempotency-Key if you retry after a network error.
export IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
-d '{
"model": "alibaba/wan-2.1-lora/text-to-video",
"input": {
"prompt": "A slow aerial shot drifting over a misty pine forest at sunrise",
"aspect_ratio": "16:9",
"resolution": "480p",
"duration_seconds": 5
}
}'
# 2. Copy data.taskId from the response, then poll until state is succeeded, failed, canceled or expired.
TASK_ID="TASK_ID_FROM_RESPONSE"
curl "https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=$TASK_ID" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY"Replace the prompt and any links with your own. The API tab has the response, polling and callback reference.
What to build with the Wan 2.1 LoRA API
- Footage restyling: live action to animation via video-edit and a style LoRA.
- Camera-move presets on photos using orbit and dolly LoRAs.
- Seeded LoRA comparisons for training pipelines.
Wan 2.1 LoRA parameter notes
- loras takes up to three entries; Wan 2.1 14B LoRAs, many Wan 2.2 style LoRAs also load.
- steps, guidance_scale and flow_shift tune sampling; defaults are sensible.
- video-edit takes strength (0.1 to 1) for how far the restyle departs from the source.
- Output is silent, 5 or 10 seconds, 480p or 720p.
How Wan 2.1 LoRA API pricing adds up
Billed per clip by resolution on all three endpoints, with 720p at one and a half times 480p. On video to video, choosing 10 seconds bills the 10 second rate even if the source is shorter.
- duration_seconds 5 · resolution 480p: 36 credits ($0.36) per run, 3600 credits ($36.00) for 100 runs
- duration_seconds 10 · resolution 720p: 81 credits ($0.81) per run, 8100 credits ($81.00) for 100 runs
Async jobs, webhooks and rate limits
Every Wan 2.1 LoRA request is asynchronous: createTask returns a taskId straight away, and the result arrives when the job finishes. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo every few seconds, or pass a public https callBackUrl and verify the X-Webhook-Signature header (HMAC-SHA256 over taskId, timestamp and the body hash) before trusting the payload. Each account gets 1,000 write requests per 10 seconds; a 429 carries Retry-After. Send an Idempotency-Key with createTask so a retried request for alibaba/wan-2.1-lora/text-to-video never runs or bills twice.
Common Wan 2.1 LoRA API errors
| errorCode | What it usually means and how to fix it |
|---|---|
invalid_request | A duration other than 5 or 10, or strength outside 0.1 to 1. |
invalid_asset | A LoRA URL that is not a direct file link, or an unreachable source video. |
generation_failed | Extreme steps or flow_shift values can fail; return to defaults. |
