Introduction

Seedream 5.0 Pro Text-to-Image creates a new image from a written design brief. Use it when you need to establish a composition, arrange supplied text or explore a photographic look without starting from an existing picture.

Developed by ByteDance and introduced in its July 8, 2026 launch article, the model supports design-oriented image creation. This mode focuses on deciding what should appear and how it should be arranged.

Key features

Information-rich image design

Its layout capabilities address infographics, posters and other designs where the organization of information matters as much as the image itself.

Localized editing and spatial understanding

The model can interpret where a change belongs and which object it concerns. This supports regional replacements, color and material changes, and sketch-guided edits without requiring a new visual brief for the whole composition.

Photographic materials and lighting

Image creation emphasizes surface texture, reflections, lighting and portrait detail. These capabilities serve both photographic treatments and rendered scenes, with attention to how materials interact with the surrounding light.

Multilingual visual content

The model supports multilingual prompts and text rendering, including languages with different scripts and reading directions. This enables localized graphics with language-specific copy and typography.

Multi-image composition

Separate images can supply subjects, materials, style or layout for a combined result. Layer separation is available as its own endpoint, Seedream 5.0 Pro Layer Decomposition; ordinary image generation and editing do not export layers.

Pricing

Prices are in credits, the same credits you use on the website (1 credit = $0.01). The hold is taken when the task is accepted and settled to the actual charge when it finishes; failed tasks are refunded.

resolution 2K10.8$0.11

Each task is rounded up to whole credits, so one run at the lowest tier costs 6 credits per image ($0.06).

Use cases

Draft an event poster from final copy

Start with the headline, event details and a simple visual theme. Review the hierarchy and legibility before adding decorative elements or producing a finished campaign asset.

Visualize a product concept before photography

Describe a proposed object, its materials and the scene around it. Use the result to discuss a direction, not to document an existing product accurately. Switch to editing when an approved product photograph should anchor the work.

Turn supplied information into a visual explainer

Provide a short, checked list of facts and specify a layout that separates them. Review whether every label and relationship is represented correctly; an attractive diagram still needs factual review.

Prompt guide & pro tips

How to write a layout brief for Seedream 5.0 Pro

Describe the image as a design brief: purpose, composition, exact text, visual treatment and lighting. For text-heavy graphics, give the content a hierarchy rather than presenting an unstructured list of words.

  1. Choose the intended format through aspect_ratio.
  2. Describe where the main subject and text blocks belong.
  3. Supply the exact copy in quotation marks.
  4. Specify materials, colors and light in concrete terms.

For a vertical book-exchange poster, choose 2:3:

How to control text and information hierarchy

Separate the headline, supporting copy and practical information. Specify their relative size and position instead of asking for “beautiful typography.” For a chart or infographic, supply the actual labels and values; do not ask the model to invent factual data to fill the layout.

For localized graphics, provide approved text in the target language and describe the reading order. Proofread the generated lettering before publishing.

How to describe materials and photographic light

Name the surface and its interaction with light: brushed metal with a soft reflection, frosted glass with light passing through it, or textured paper under side lighting. These details communicate the intended appearance more clearly than stacking terms such as “premium” and “ultra-realistic.”

Revise the brief before increasing resolution

If the composition feels crowded, simplify the content or assign clearer regions. If the image has the wrong look, revise material and lighting directions. A higher resolution changes the output tier; it does not resolve a contradictory design brief.

API quick start

Call the Seedream 5.0 Pro API in three steps

  1. Create an API key. Sign in to PopNow and create a key in the API console. Keys start with sk-popnow- and use the same credits as the website.
  2. Send the request. POST /jobs/createTask with model bytedance/seedream-5.0-pro/text-to-image and an input object that follows the parameter table. The response returns a task ID straight away.
  3. Get the result. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo with the task ID, or pass a callBackUrl and we post the result to it. Download the output links when the task succeeds.
# 1. Create the task. Keep the Idempotency-Key if you retry after a network error.
export IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
  -d '{
  "model": "bytedance/seedream-5.0-pro/text-to-image",
  "input": {
    "prompt": "A ceramic teapot on a linen cloth, soft window light, muted palette",
    "aspect_ratio": "1:1",
    "resolution": "2k",
    "output_format": "jpeg"
  }
}'

# 2. Copy data.taskId from the response, then poll until state is succeeded, failed, canceled or expired.
TASK_ID="TASK_ID_FROM_RESPONSE"
curl "https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=$TASK_ID" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY"

Replace the prompt and any links with your own. The API tab has the response, polling and callback reference.

Seedream 5.0 Pro API questions

How much does the Seedream 5.0 Pro API cost?

Seedream 5.0 Pro starts at 6 credits ($0.06) per image with Create Image, its cheapest task. Prices by option: 1K 5.4 credits per image, 2K 10.8 credits per image. Credits are the same as on the website (1 credit = $0.01), new accounts get 30 free credits, and failed tasks are refunded.

What is the model name for Seedream 5.0 Pro in the API?

Put bytedance/seedream-5.0-pro/text-to-image for Create Image; bytedance/seedream-5.0-pro/edit for Edit Image; bytedance/seedream-5.0-pro/layer-decomposition for Layer Splitter in the model field of POST /jobs/createTask.

How many reference images can one edit take?

Up to ten. Assign a role to each in the prompt, because unnamed sources get blended. Every reference beyond the first adds to the quote you see before submitting.

Can I set the output size or aspect ratio?

Yes, as a ratio and a tier rather than free pixels. aspect_ratio takes fifteen shapes from 1:3 to 3:1, and resolution picks 1k or 2k. Text-to-image defaults to 1:1; editing defaults to auto, which picks the supported ratio closest to your first reference. If you need a named width*height preset, use Seedream 5.0 Lite.

Is there a seed for reproducible results?

No. Neither endpoint exposes one, so two identical requests return two different frames. Keep the prompt stored with any asset you intend to reuse.

JPEG or PNG — which should I request?

png when the frame goes on into retouching or compositing and lossless edges matter; jpeg for review loops and direct delivery. It changes the file you receive, not the image that was generated.

Can it render text inside the image?

Short strings sometimes land, but it is not what this model is for. For signage, mastheads and packaging copy, use a model built for in-image typography.

What are the limits of the Seedream 5.0 Pro API?

Resolutions: 1K · 2K; Aspect ratios: 1:1 · 4:3 · 3:4 · 16:9 · 9:16 · 3:2 +9; Prompt length (characters): 5,000. Requests outside these limits are rejected before anything is charged.

Can I try Seedream 5.0 Pro without writing code?

Yes. The Playground runs Seedream 5.0 Pro on your PopNow credits, needs no API key, and shows the matching code for every run.

All Seedream models

Seedream 5.0 Lite works in fixed 2K frame sizes, which keeps a series consistent, and Seedream 5.0 Flash is the faster, cheaper sibling. Pro is the one for the final, most detailed frame.
