Expectation vs Reality
Each pair shows the dream version first, then a slider sweeps across to the comically imperfect reality, with one kind, self-deprecating line.
Questions
Is it mean?
No. The joke is always on the situation, never on anyone's body or looks.
Can I use my own photos?
Not in this format yet. Both sides are generated so they match in angle and framing.
What topics work best?
Everyday plans: cooking, DIY, packing, a haircut at home, a garden project.
How long will the video be?
The length depends on the 2-3 pairs the tool creates and the voiceover that goes with them. The page does not set a fixed length, so watch the finished video to see how it came out. A shorter, simpler topic usually gives a tighter result.
What happens if I leave the topic box empty?
The tool makes its own example video instead. This is a handy way to see how the slider, captions and music work before you type your own idea. You are still shown the credit total before you start.
Can I change the language of the tags?
The EXPECTATION and REALITY tags appear in your language, since they are drawn in code. That means you do not need to edit the images to get labels you can read. Write your topic in the language you want to use.
Do I get my credits back if a shot fails?
Yes. Credits are charged per shot, and failed shots are refunded. If the result looks wrong but did not fail, you can change your topic wording and run it again.
How do I write a topic that gets a funnier result?
Name one specific activity, like 'baking a birthday cake' or 'packing for a weekend trip'. Specific scenes give the generator a clear picture to spoil in a small way. Avoid long lists of ideas in one topic.

Before and after: what changes
This format turns one everyday topic into 2-3 pairs. Each pair starts with a polished expectation image, then a slider sweeps across to a reality image of the same scene gone a little wrong.
- What changes
- The mood and the result of the scene change. The expectation looks tidy and perfect, while the reality shows a small, funny mishap such as a lopsided cake or a crooked shelf.
- What stays the same
- The angle, framing and subject stay matched on both sides, because both images are generated together. The EXPECTATION and REALITY tags and the kind, self-deprecating tone also stay constant from pair to pair.
- What to look at when you compare
- Watch the slider as it crosses the frame and check that the two sides line up. Then see whether the voiceover line fits the mishap, and whether the captions match the words you hear.
Topics that work, and topics that don't
Works well
- A simple everyday plan like cooking a meal, packing a suitcase or a garden project gives the generator a clear scene and an obvious way for it to go slightly wrong.
- A short, specific topic such as 'a haircut at home' produces a sharper joke than a broad one.
- Topics with a visible end result, like a DIY shelf or a homemade cake, make the gap between expectation and reality easy to see in the slider.
Avoid
- A very vague topic like 'life' gives the generator nothing concrete to draw, so the pairs feel generic.
- Topics aimed at someone's body, looks or a specific person do not fit, because the joke is always on the situation.
- Abstract ideas with no physical scene, such as 'feelings about Monday', are hard to show as a matched before-and-after picture.
Step by step
- Pick the formatOpen the page and choose Expectation vs Reality from the formats list. You can go back with 'All formats' at the top if you want to compare it with another format.
- Type your topicFill in the 'Expectation vs. reality of what?' box with a short everyday plan. If you leave it blank, the tool makes its own example, which is a good way to see the style first.
- Check the optionsOpen 'More options +' to see what else you can adjust before you start. Then read the credit total shown beside the 'Make it' button so the price is no surprise.
- Press Make itClick 'Make it' and wait while the script, images, voiceover and captions are built. The page moves through the 'Get your video' stage when it is ready.
- Review the resultPlay the video once with sound and once without. Check that the slider lines up on each pair, the captions match the voice, and the joke stays kind. If a shot fails, remember that failed shots are refunded.
How the video is put together
- Script and plan
- The tool first writes 2-3 pairs and one gentle line for each. This is the cheapest part of the job and sets the story for the images.
- Matched images
- Both sides of each pair are generated together so the angle and framing match. That is why your own photos are not used in this format yet.
- Slider in code
- The slider and the EXPECTATION and REALITY tags are drawn in code rather than painted into the pictures. That keeps the labels clean and in your language.
- Voiceover and music
- A voiceover with word-by-word captions carries the joke, with a flash between pairs. The playful music track comes from the library at no extra cost.
