Z-Image Base LoRA runs the 6-billion-parameter Z-Image base model from Alibaba's Tongyi-MAI team with up to three of your own LoRA files per request. Base is the non-distilled build its makers recommend for fine-tuning, so LoRAs trained on it load here. Text-to-image in nine aspect ratios and image-to-image with a strength control, without review or filter.

Call it with the model name alibaba/z-image-base-lora/text-to-image on POST /jobs/createTask, from 3 credits per image ($0.03). New accounts get 30 free credits to try it in the Playground first.

Introduction

Z-Image Base LoRA Text to image draws one image from a written prompt with up to three of your own LoRA files loaded. It runs Z-Image, the 6-billion-parameter base model from Alibaba's Tongyi-MAI team: the non-distilled build that its makers describe as the starting point for fine-tuning and LoRA training. Pick any of nine aspect ratios.

Key features

The build LoRAs are trained on

Z-Image comes in a fast distilled Turbo build and this full Base build. The publisher recommends Base for fine-tuning; a LoRA trained on it, loaded here, changed the whole look in our tests.

Three at once

Up to three LoRAs per request, each with its own scale from 0 to 4. Nothing is uploaded to us in advance and the files are not reviewed.

Photographs by default

Without a LoRA the model draws photographic images with natural skin, light and grain, and it follows long descriptive prompts closely.

Request parameters

ParameterRequiredDescription
aspect_ratioNoThe shape of the frame: wide, square or tall. 1:1 · 16:9 · 9:16 · 4:3 · 3:4 · 3:2 · 2:3 · 21:9 · 9:21 · Default: 1:1
lorasNoLoad your own LoRA files to lock in a style or character. Default: []
output_formatNoFile type of the result. jpeg · png · webp · Default: jpeg
promptYesDescribe the subject, clothing, place and light in sentences. Put a LoRA trigger phrase first.
seedNoReuse the same number to get a repeatable result. ≥ 0 · ≤ 2147483647

Pricing

Prices are in credits, the same credits you use on the website (1 credit = $0.01). The hold is taken when the task is accepted and settled to the actual charge when it finishes; failed tasks are refunded.

OptionCredits per image≈ USD
Standard2.16$0.022

Each task is rounded up to whole credits, so one run at the lowest tier costs 3 credits per image ($0.03).

For an exact number before you run, send the same body to POST /jobs/quote.

Use cases

A house style for a whole set

Load a style LoRA, keep its trigger phrase at the front and run a list of prompts. Every image in the set shares the look.

Your own trained LoRAs

If you train on Z-Image Base, test the result here at full quality without running your own GPU.

Photographic stills

Portraits, editorial and cinematic frames from sentences, in nine shapes from 21:9 to 9:21.

Prompt guide & pro tips

Write sentences

Describe the subject, clothing, place, light and lens in full sentences. In our tests the model followed details such as a coffee cup held in both hands or seagulls on a pier.

Mind the trigger phrase

Prompt adherence is strong enough that a LoRA's trigger phrase alone can change the style. Compare runs with and without the LoRA file, not just with and without the phrase.

Use Base LoRAs, not Turbo ones

A LoRA trained on Z-Image Turbo broke the image apart on this build in our test, without an error. Look for LoRAs trained on Z-Image Base.

Allow time

Base runs many more sampling steps than Turbo: in our tests a text-to-image request took 10 to 57 seconds of model time, usually around half a minute.

API quick start

Call the Z-Image Base LoRA API in three steps

  1. Create an API key. Sign in to PopNow and create a key in the API console. Keys start with sk-popnow- and use the same credits as the website.
  2. Send the request. POST /jobs/createTask with model alibaba/z-image-base-lora/text-to-image and an input object that follows the parameter table. The response returns a task ID straight away.
  3. Get the result. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo with the task ID, or pass a callBackUrl and we post the result to it. Download the output links when the task succeeds.
# 1. Create the task. Keep the Idempotency-Key if you retry after a network error.
export IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
  -d '{
  "model": "alibaba/z-image-base-lora/text-to-image",
  "input": {
    "prompt": "A ceramic teapot on a linen cloth, soft window light, muted palette",
    "aspect_ratio": "1:1",
    "output_format": "jpeg"
  }
}'

# 2. Copy data.taskId from the response, then poll until state is succeeded, failed, canceled or expired.
TASK_ID="TASK_ID_FROM_RESPONSE"
curl "https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=$TASK_ID" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY"

Replace the prompt and any links with your own. The API tab has the response, polling and callback reference.

Z-Image Base LoRA API questions

How much does the Z-Image Base LoRA API cost?

Z-Image Base LoRA starts at 3 credits ($0.03) per image with Create Image, its cheapest task. Credits are the same as on the website (1 credit = $0.01), new accounts get 30 free credits, and failed tasks are refunded.

What is the model name for Z-Image Base LoRA in the API?

Put alibaba/z-image-base-lora/text-to-image for Create Image; alibaba/z-image-base-lora/edit for Edit Image in the model field of POST /jobs/createTask.

How is Base different from Z-Image Turbo?

Turbo is distilled to run in about 8 steps and its makers rate its visual quality highest. Base is the full model: 28 to 50 steps, real guidance, more varied results, and the build they recommend for fine-tuning and LoRA training. It is slower; a text-to-image request here usually took around half a minute in our tests.

Do Z-Image Turbo LoRAs work here?

Not reliably. A pixel-art LoRA trained on Turbo broke the image apart on this build in our test, without an error. Use LoRAs trained on Z-Image Base.

What strength should I use for image-to-image?

0.6 with a style LoRA keeps the composition and changes the look. 0.7, the default, starts changing the content. From about 0.75 the scene is re-posed; at 0.85 and above you get a new picture in the same light.

What are the limits of the Z-Image Base LoRA API?

Aspect ratios: 1:1 · 16:9 · 9:16 · 4:3 · 3:4 · 3:2 +3; Prompt length (characters): 5,000. Requests outside these limits are rejected before anything is charged.

Can I try Z-Image Base LoRA without writing code?

Yes. The Playground runs Z-Image Base LoRA on your PopNow credits, needs no API key, and shows the matching code for every run.

All Z-Image models

Z-Image Turbo LoRA is much faster and suits LoRAs trained for the Turbo build.
