Introduction

Seedance 2.0 Mini Video extend continues a clip you already have. Send it as video_url, with an optional prompt for what happens next. The final frame of your clip becomes the opening frame of a new Seedance 2.0 Mini image-to-video shot of 4 to 15 seconds, and the two are joined into one MP4: your original first, then the continuation, with the repeated seam frame removed. The new segment also comes back as its own file, so you can keep extending or edit the pieces separately.

Key features

Continuity comes from the last frame. Wardrobe, set, light and where everyone stands carry over because the new segment literally starts on your final frame. Motion does not carry over the same way: the model sees one still, not the whole clip, so describe the movement you want to continue instead of assuming it will keep its speed or direction.

One file back, plus the new piece on its own. The joined file keeps your clip’s frame rate and its framing, with no black bars, and is encoded as H.264 MP4 with AAC sound. To line the seam up, the picture may be trimmed or adjusted by a few percent at the edges. If the model returns a noticeably different shape, the new segment is scaled to fill your frame and centered, cropping what spills over. Sound from your source stays, sound generated for the new segment follows it with a short crossfade at the seam, and a silent side is padded with silence. The second asset in the output is the new segment alone, ready for another extend or for an editor.

An optional end frame. Add last_image_url and the new segment lands on that picture, which makes a transition or a return to a known frame repeatable.

Everything else is Seedance 2.0 Mini image-to-video.

Pricing

Prices are in credits, the same credits you use on the website (1 credit = $0.01). The hold is taken when the task is accepted and settled to the actual charge when it finishes; failed tasks are refunded.

OptionCredits per second≈ USD
resolution 480p3.69$0.037
enable_web_search true · resolution 480p5.4$0.054
resolution 720p7.94$0.079
enable_web_search true · resolution 720p10.8$0.11

Each task is rounded up to whole credits, so one run at the lowest tier costs 19 credits for a 5-second clip ($0.19).

For an exact number before you run, send the same body to POST /jobs/quote.

Use cases

Lengthen a shot that ended too early: a product turntable that stops before the label faces camera, or a walk that cuts before the subject reaches the door. Extend it by a few seconds and describe only the remaining motion.

Build a longer sequence step by step. Because every step starts from a single frame, watch each seam before stacking the next one.

Prompt guide & pro tips

Describe the next beat, not the whole scene. The frame already fixes who and where, so spend the prompt on the action that follows, the camera move and the sound. Repeat the camera language your clip ended on, such as a slow push in or a locked shot, so the seam reads as one take.

Trim before you extend. The last frame is the only thing the model sees, so a blurred, mid-cut or heavily compressed ending carries straight into the continuation. Cut your source on a clean, sharp frame first.

Keep the resolution consistent. Resolution only sets the quality of the new segment, so extending a 1080p clip at 480p makes the new part look softer than the original. The framing of the new segment follows the last frame of your clip, so there is no aspect ratio to choose; expect a close match to the source, not a pixel-exact one.

API quick start

Call the Seedance 2.0 Mini API in three steps

  1. Create an API key. Sign in to PopNow and create a key in the API console. Keys start with sk-popnow- and use the same credits as the website.
  2. Send the request. POST /jobs/createTask with model bytedance/seedance-2.0-mini/video-extend and an input object that follows the parameter table. The response returns a task ID straight away.
  3. Get the result. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo with the task ID, or pass a callBackUrl and we post the result to it. Download the output links when the task succeeds.
# 1. Create the task. Keep the Idempotency-Key if you retry after a network error.
export IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
  -d '{
  "model": "bytedance/seedance-2.0-mini/video-extend",
  "input": {
    "video_url": "https://media.popnow.ai/effects/flower-bloom-1abd6efb.mp4",
    "resolution": "720p",
    "duration_seconds": 5,
    "generate_audio": true
  }
}'

# 2. Copy data.taskId from the response, then poll until state is succeeded, failed, canceled or expired.
TASK_ID="TASK_ID_FROM_RESPONSE"
curl "https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=$TASK_ID" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY"

Replace the prompt and any links with your own. The API tab has the response, polling and callback reference.

Seedance 2.0 Mini API questions

How much does the Seedance 2.0 Mini API cost?

Seedance 2.0 Mini starts at 19 credits ($0.19) for a 5-second clip with Extend Video, its cheapest task. Prices by option: 480p 3.69 credits per second, true · 480p 5.4 credits per second, 720p 7.94 credits per second, true · 720p 10.8 credits per second. Credits are the same as on the website (1 credit = $0.01), new accounts get 30 free credits, and failed tasks are refunded.

What is the model name for Seedance 2.0 Mini in the API?

Put bytedance/seedance-2.0-mini/text-to-video for Create Video; bytedance/seedance-2.0-mini/image-to-video for Image to Video; bytedance/seedance-2.0-mini/reference-to-video for Reference to Video; bytedance/seedance-2.0-mini/video-extend for Extend Video in the model field of POST /jobs/createTask.

Is Seedance 2.0 Mini good enough to deliver from?

It shares the line's native audio and its aspect ratio options, adaptive included, but output stops at 720p; when a delivery spec asks for more, move that job to standard Seedance 2.0. Judge it on your own material rather than on tier names: run one brief through Mini and one through 2.0 at identical settings and compare the two.

How do I get a clip longer than fifteen seconds?

Chain shots through the frame. Export the final frame of the clip you approved and send it to image-to-video as the opening frame of the next shot, so a long sequence is built from segments you control rather than from one take that drifts.

Does Seedance 2.0 Mini have a seed?

No. Neither Mini nor Fast publishes one. To compare prompt variants, hold every other field constant and read the difference across several takes.

Can I send footage I already have?

As a reference, yes: reference-to-video accepts up to 3 clips that lend motion, pacing and camera language to a new shot. To continue a finished clip, send it to the video-extend endpoint: its final frame opens the next shot and you get one joined file back. There is no edit endpoint.

Does the API generate audio?

Yes, in the same pass as the picture. generate_audio defaults to true on all three endpoints and produces ambience, movement effects and voice locked to the frames. Switching it off does not lower the rate in this tier, so turn it off only when the track will be replaced anyway.

What are the limits of the Seedance 2.0 Mini API?

Clip length: 4–15 s; Resolutions: 480p · 720p; Longest input clip: 60 s. Requests outside these limits are rejected before anything is charged.

Can I try Seedance 2.0 Mini without writing code?

Yes. The Playground runs Seedance 2.0 Mini on your PopNow credits, needs no API key, and shows the matching code for every run.

Seedance 2.0 Fast has the same settings and is tuned for speed, and full Seedance 2.0 goes up to 4K for delivery.
