black-forest-labs/flux-2-klein-4b/editFrom 2 credits per image· Edit Image

FLUX.2 [klein] 4B is Black Forest Labs' compact 4-billion-parameter image model, released on 15 January 2026 under the Apache 2.0 license. Generation and editing live in one model: nine aspect ratios up to 2048 pixels on the long side, and edits from up to three reference images. It is built for speed, with no review of prompts or results, though a small model often dresses people in more clothing than you asked for.

Call it with the model name black-forest-labs/flux-2-klein-4b/edit on POST /jobs/createTask, from 2 credits per image ($0.02). New accounts get 30 free credits to try it in the Playground first.

Key features

Up to three references

Combine two portraits and a location, or restyle a single photo.

Edits that keep people

Ask for a new background, light or weather and keep faces, clothes and pose. With one source this works cleanly; with three, faces can drift slightly.

Pricing

Prices are in credits, the same credits you use on the website (1 credit = $0.01). The hold is taken when the task is accepted and settled to the actual charge when it finishes; failed tasks are refunded.

OptionCredits per image≈ USD
Standard1.89$0.019

Each task is rounded up to whole credits, so one run at the lowest tier costs 2 credits per image ($0.02).

For an exact number before you run, send the same body to POST /jobs/quote.

Use cases

Background and mood swaps

Move a couple from a sunny street to a rainy neon night in one pass.

Bringing people to a place

Place two portraits in a location photo for storyboards, covers and character sheets.

Quick restyles

Change light, season or palette while the composition stays put.

Prompt guide & pro tips

Protect first, change second

Open with what must remain the same, then describe only the change. Short, concrete instructions work best.

Give each source a role

With several images, say what each one contributes: this person, that person, this place.

Check the details

With two or three sources, look at hands, hair and accessories; a small extra item can appear. Run another seed if something is off.

API quick start

Call the FLUX.2 Klein 4B API in three steps

  1. Create an API key. Sign in to PopNow and create a key in the API console. Keys start with sk-popnow- and use the same credits as the website.
  2. Send the request. POST /jobs/createTask with model black-forest-labs/flux-2-klein-4b/edit and an input object that follows the parameter table. The response returns a task ID straight away.
  3. Get the result. Poll GET /jobs/recordInfo with the task ID, or pass a callBackUrl and we post the result to it. Download the output links when the task succeeds.
# 1. Create the task. Keep the Idempotency-Key if you retry after a network error.
export IDEMPOTENCY_KEY="$(uuidgen)"
curl -X POST https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/createTask \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: $IDEMPOTENCY_KEY" \
  -d '{
  "model": "black-forest-labs/flux-2-klein-4b/edit",
  "input": {
    "prompt": "A ceramic teapot on a linen cloth, soft window light, muted palette",
    "image_urls": [
      "https://media.popnow.ai/influencer/examples/marco.webp"
    ],
    "aspect_ratio": "auto",
    "resolution": "1k"
  }
}'

# 2. Copy data.taskId from the response, then poll until state is succeeded, failed, canceled or expired.
TASK_ID="TASK_ID_FROM_RESPONSE"
curl "https://api.popnow.ai/api/v1/jobs/recordInfo?taskId=$TASK_ID" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $POPNOW_API_KEY"

Replace the prompt and any links with your own. The API tab has the response, polling and callback reference.

FLUX.2 Klein 4B API questions

How much does the FLUX.2 Klein 4B API cost?

FLUX.2 Klein 4B starts at 2 credits ($0.02) per image with Edit Image, its cheapest task. Credits are the same as on the website (1 credit = $0.01), new accounts get 30 free credits, and failed tasks are refunded.

What is the model name for FLUX.2 Klein 4B in the API?

Put black-forest-labs/flux-2-klein-4b/text-to-image for Create Image; black-forest-labs/flux-2-klein-4b/edit for Edit Image in the model field of POST /jobs/createTask.

Is this model really open source?

Yes. Black Forest Labs released FLUX.2 [klein] 4B under the Apache 2.0 license, and here it runs as a hosted API call with nothing to install.

Why did it add clothes I did not ask for?

A 4B model has limited range, and it leans towards covered figures. Describe the outfit you want, or choose a larger open model if you need more.

How is it different from the larger FLUX.2 models?

It is much smaller and quicker, and it generates and edits in one model. Text, colors and faces are less reliable than on larger models. Choose it for drafts, mockups and fast edits.

Can I edit with more than one picture?

Yes, up to three. Name them in the prompt as image 1, image 2 and image 3 and say what each contributes. Faces can drift slightly when three sources are combined.

How do aspect ratio and size work in edits?

Auto keeps the shape of the first source image at about one megapixel. Choosing a ratio lets you pick the 1k or 2k size tier.

What are the limits of the FLUX.2 Klein 4B API?

Resolutions: 1K · 2K; Aspect ratios: auto · 1:1 · 16:9 · 9:16 · 4:3 · 3:4 +4; Reference images: 3; Prompt length (characters): 5,000; Largest upload: 10 MB. Requests outside these limits are rejected before anything is charged.

Can I try FLUX.2 Klein 4B without writing code?

Yes. The Playground runs FLUX.2 Klein 4B on your PopNow credits, needs no API key, and shows the matching code for every run.
